Getting Started: Your First Night

Join the community

• Join the official Discord and read the community rules.
• Complete the community's rules verification steps to access the appropriate channels.
• Review current announcements and known issues before installing or connecting.

Prepare your game and launcher

• Install and update your legitimate game installation to the version supported by the current multiplayer client.
• Download the official multiplayer launcher from the linked provider page and complete its installation instructions.
• Use the compatible client plugins required by the server. These are installed on your PC, not into the server's resources folder.

Check the compatible appearance and asset plugin

• Fully close your game before installing any required client plugins.
• For the documented 2.5 setup, follow the compatible ArchiveXL port instructions linked below. Version requirements can change; use the currently documented compatible release rather than an unrelated older build.
• Extract into the actual game root while preserving directory structure, then enable the plugin in the launcher profile you use for Flatline RP.
• If startup fails, check the corresponding plugin log in your installation before repeatedly retrying.

Find Flatline RP

• Open the multiplayer launcher, use the server browser, and search for Flatline RP.
• Select the server and allow required resource downloads to finish. Do not interrupt the first connection.
• If the listing is temporarily unavailable, consult the Status page and Discord announcements rather than downloading an unofficial launcher.

Build your identity

• Choose a believable name, appearance, personality, and motivations that create opportunities for ongoing roleplay.
• Complete all character prompts before attempting to enter the world.
• If the editor or spawn screen stalls, take a screenshot of the exact message and report it to support. Do not delete your character to troubleshoot.

Start small, build relationships

• Explore the city, learn which services are currently active, and introduce yourself naturally to other characters.
• Respect the Rules and avoid assuming that every system shown in development updates is already released.
• Consider a first goal for your character: find employment, make a contact, pursue a lead, or establish a place in the community.

If something doesn't load

• Record the exact error, time, and step that failed: launcher, resource download, character editor, appearance, or spawn.
• Restart the client before repeating a failed installation. Only reinstall or remove files when a published support guide instructs you to.
• Open a Discord support request with the error text, a relevant screenshot, and client log if available. Never share passwords or authentication tokens.
